Dual-site family event in collaboration with the London’s Roman Amphitheatre
To the Romans it was rubbish – but to archaeologists it’s buried treasure! Find out just how long discarded items can last in the ground, how rubbish has changed the landscape of London, and how even 2000 years ago the Romans knew a thing or two about recycling.
Visit two of London’s top Roman sites in one day and join us for a dual site event at London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE and London’s Roman Amphitheatre, to explore the themes of rubbish and recycling – Roman style.
Create your own Roman inspired pot and decorate it with recycled glass, shells, and mirrors, make your own gladiator from recycled material, and march through the City streets between the two sites in the company of a Roman centurion for an ancient glimpse into the past.
All materials will be provided, and the activity is suitable for kids aged 4 to 11.
